Peace of Mind

In an ongoing world of thoughts, emotions, moments and events, how do you achieve your Piece of Mind? It’s amazing how much information your brain actually absorbs in just one hour to one day to one month to one year. How do you protect yourself from all the many bits and pieces of information your brain digests?

I find that I am inspired by encouraging and positive thoughts and I even become so inspired that I too, want to share my thoughts and ideas out into the world but I tend to attract not so positive messages as well and it leads to second guessing myself a lot. As you begin to become more open-minded and more able to voice your opinion, you will also come across many challengers along the way that may take you off of your positive ride into a roller coaster pit. Being able to filter your mind is a wonderful tool to use to get that piece of mind.

I have found that whenever I run into a roadblock for my happiness it’s because I am allowing those thoughts, messages and emotions to cloud my original encouraging state of mind with those of someone who may be having a bad day.  Remember that quote, “Don’t let anyone steal your joy.” It would be wise to keep it in the back of your mind everytime you run into conflict while you are on your journey in life.

To obtain Piece of Mind you must believe in a higher power above yourself. I believe in God. He is my strength and my salvation. He has never failed me in my faith and has always been my reliable source to getting back on track when I become lost. When you really appreciate and are thankful for your higher power (your God) has done for you, you immediately feel it in your heart and it begins to saturate the love you have inside throughout your whole being. It is truly amazing.

For those that don’t know, God is Love. It is as simple as that and once you realize that, all the hurt, the negativity and resentment disappears.

“Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.” ~ Proverbs 3:56

Some of you still may not have reached that point in your life where you have come across a huge ordeal in your lifetime, where you have no other choice but to rely on a higher power. Not everyone may agree and I’m only speaking from experience but I can tell you this; in times of loneliness, despair, tragedy and deceit, God has never let me down in lifting my spirits. Once you believe in him, he gives you the grace of being able to love yourself again. God is love and that love sits in the hearts of all of us. We just have to be thankful and show gratitude for what we already have.

Russell Simmons Book

Another great celebrity that has inspired me on Twitter is Russell Simmons, a.k.a. uncleRUSH. He is a legend in the Hip Hop community, known for Phat Farm Clothing Line, Def Comedy Jam and brother to Run, a.k.a. RevRunWisdom on Twitter from Run DMC back in the day. He is currently doing a reality show, “Running Russell” on Oxygen Network and is a success in all that he does.

What inspires me about him is his kindness for humans, animals and his dedication to his Meditation and Yoga. A very calm, natured soul that strives to help others through charity as well as just giving some really good advice in seeking your inner soul.

His book, “Super Rich, A Guide to Having it All.” is now on pre-order and available at Borders and will be available January 4, 2011. Be sure to get yours now!!

Always see the POSITIVE in everything

Unfortunately, negativity is something that happens no matter what. More than likely, words, phrases, sentences, quotes, whatever the case can be taken into a different context by the viewer/reader than the messenger had intended.

When you look into any saying, any quote or word spoken indirectly…always know for yourself, if it wasn’t directly stated to you then it is definitely something that wasn’t meant for you and that you shouldn’t take it personal.

“An authentic attitude of compassion doesn’t change even faced with another person’s negative behavior.” ~ Dalai Lama

“What unites all beings is their desire for Happiness.”……Dalai Lama

This is sooooo true!! Ask yourself when was the last time you were the happiest? I believe you would say it was when I was surrounded by many people that shared an interest in my joy.

It’s very hard to be happy all by yourself because the most happiness comes when you are able to share that happiness with others. Think about all the social networks such as Facebook and Twitter that bring so many people together everyday and nearly every hour because there is something that we all get from it. It can be a shared quote, a shared idea, a shared piece of information. All in all, it is something that is shared in joy.

Of course there are other instances where there may be no appreciation for a shareness of joy, where there seems to be more of an interest in a criticism, a harsh remark.

“When we ignore the question of the impact our actions have on others’ well-being, inevitably we end up hurting them.” ~ Dalai Lama

Because we live in such a “hurried” society where thoughts, actions and words are at times used in “haste,” we don’t even realize we may be hurting others with our thoughts and actions, until someone says and I’m sure you’ve heard this many times during the past couple of years…..”I’m Offended!!”

“Our prime purpose in life is to help others. And if you can’t help them, at least don’t hurt them.” ~ Dalai Lama

Ever since I came across this quote it truly inspired me as to how much we are all lacking in giving to others. This day and age is now considered a “Me” generation so in reading Dalai Lama’s moving quotes he always focused on one most important thing and that thing is…”COMPASSION.”
